The show ran from September 24, 2001 to May 16, 2007.
The Morgue, Boston PD, and The DA's Office
Edit
When someone dies in Boston, Massachusetts, their body is picked up by the medical examiners at the Boston Medical Examiner's Office; the morgue. Full autopsies are performed when the person dies under mysterious circumstances, and often the team finds that this person was murdered. Heading up the ranks at the morgue is the Chief Medical Examiner Garret Macy, who is a respectable man. He serves as the liaison for all conflicts; work related or not. Fit snugly under him are his three constant medical examiners, the first of them being the newly-returned Jordan Cavanaugh, who is incapable of sticking to her job description and often puts herself in harm's way in the pursuit of justice. Next up is the focused Doctor Mahesh Vijay, who is affectionately known as 'Bug' for his work in etymology. After Bug is the witty, charming, and comedic Nigel Townsend, a criminologist and tech-expert, but also a conspiracy nut on the side. Working with them is their former intake-girl-turned-grief-counselor, Lily Lebowski, who is inherently caring and maternal.
Once the team decides that this death is a murder, they call in the Boston Police Department, homicide division. Detectives include charismatic and friendly detective Woodrow Hoyt, known to the morgue staff as Woody. From fresh-faced uniformed cops to seasoned detectives, the force is always effective in investigating crimes and locating murderers.
The District Attorney's Office is the head of legal affairs, and they're lead by Renee Walcott, the D.A. of Massachusetts. Second to her are the ADAs (Assistant District Attorneys), including Jeffrey Brandau.
